If you are expecting plenty of sight seeing you are at the wrong place. If you want to enjoy the nature you are at the right place. Things to see include boat club, an observatory, silk farms and an temple which has giant statue. We limited our endeavors to trekking to Swami-Malai and a walk through the forest. To reach the base ask directions for Mangalam at the beginning of Mangalam there is a fork and take the raod on left. From here at couple of minutes drive there is a small temple. You can park the vehicle and if you need can take a guide for hundred bucks. But mostly people do without a guide. Once you cross the hamlet near the temple, Swami-Malai is 4 km along the well laid steps. Only when you are close to the top there wont be steps. On the way there were plenty of fruit bearing trees with lots of birds sitting and chirping on them. Its a good place for birding. Once you reach there there is a platform to see the view around and also there is a temple. If you can reach there by 6:30 you will get to see the sun rise. The view is supposed to be good during dec-jan as there will be seasame bloom in the plains. There is also Jalagamparai waterfalls which can be visited only during post-monsoon time. During March-April it will be dry. On the way you can also visit Krishna Giri fort at Krishnagiri.
On Hosur road at the 2nd flyover after the Toll booth at Krishnagiri take a left and drive on Chennai highway. To take left need not go on the flyover. 45 km from here there is another Toll booth. 4 km from toll booth there is a flyover. Before you reach the flyover there is petrol bunk on the left side first you will have to take the left turn and then almost a U turn , go below the fly over and you are on the Thirupattur road. On this drive for 7km and you will see a board put on by Tamilnadu tourism department welcoming to to Yelagiri. Take a left on this and a little head the 14 hair pin bends welcome you. Its 36km from here to Yelagiri.
