* Botanical garden is supposed have some rare plants. Its closed on Saturday and Sunday. Its around a 1 km from the lake on the way to Shevoroyan Temple. * There are three view points Pagoda Point, Ladies Seat, Gents Seat, Children Seat. Pagoda Point is 3 km from the lake and other are 2 km from lake and can be visited together. Its better to visit these points in the evening or early morning. Rose garden is close to the 3 seats. Rose garden can be good place for bird watching. * Killiyur falls is around 3 km drive + 1km walk from the lake. Make sure you do not take your vehicle beyond watching point. Park your vehicle and park from there. Its a steep climb down * Montford school is open to public on Sunday and suppsed to be a good place to visit. * You can also visit Bear's cave, Grange, Anna Park, Deer Park etc.
Vellore -> Krishnagiri - > Dharmapuri -> Salem. 30 km from Salem
Take the Hosur raod(NH 7) via Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem. At Salem take "Five roads"(circle where five roads meet) and take left on that for the Yercaud road. Till Krishnagiri roads are good and after the road is under construction. From salem its around 5km to the base and then 20 hairpin bends and 28 km to reach Yercaud. While coming we took the Bypass at Dharmapuri and came via Palacode, Rayakottai, Hosur road. We skipped Dharmapuri town, Krishnagiri.
